The Unforseen Evening
Have you ever felt for a moment in life, as if you are from the world of fairytales? I personally don't believe, never did I believe it earlier, as a kid. But, today as I sit around alone, on this yellowish colored bench of the greenery park, with faces walking by me, approaching footsteps to be heard and then their subsequent disappearance, migrated birds chirping, giggles and laughter of the kids playing my mind goes back to that time. The time, when I have felt like a grown up, lively and at the same time like a new me.
We've shared a precious time, a valuable moment unmeasured. It has been four past forty-five in the evening. We sit on a cracked footpath, beside the zigzag road. Acknowledging a few youngsters donning their activewears and passing by, one can know that they've come here for their regular walks. A couple of person have arrived with their Beagles and German Shepherds. Both of us, with our eyes fixed on the footsteps, but talking about stuffs almost irrelevant to what we are watching. "It's quite hot in here." You say. "Still, I can feel the breeze showing some sympathy on us, which lacked at the previous place we went to." You laugh. Sitting beside each other, with people minding their own business around us, we've felt good. The curving road leads to a famous landmark, atop a hill, not so steep, which is slightly raised from the city. The greenery environment, tree leaves rustling, creating a tranquil sound. "Have been here before?" You ask. "Once." I say.
And then there's a few chatting. You describe about the incidents of how your friends have been caught by the cops for staying in this area, late night. We laugh, again. And the conversation continues. You've been quite shy before, but that day you opened up a bit. The way you explains, the way you talk, maybe I have started knowing you more. I suddenly plant a kiss on your left cheek. You smiles and blushes at the same time, with ears turning red, caused due to emotional reactions maybe. You slowly speaks up," May I kiss you too on your cheek?" A sweet gesture from the most sweetest person I have known. I've felt worthy.
Time passes by. "Let's get going." It's almost 2 km from the base to the hillock. We started walking towards the city. The slanting zigzag road starts to get darker with time. We've held hands, taking small steps, letting our silence talk, without speaking a single word except thr sound of our breathe. I have stopped at a point enchanted by the view of the city with lights on, looks exactly like the fireflies helping the city to lit up. We both stand alongside watching straight. "This is so beautiful." You say. "Indeed, it is" - I response watching your glowing face, enchanted by your beauty instead. Both of us, praising beauty of two "poles apart" views having commonalities. We start walking again, as our destinations haven't arrived yet. "Listen na" you utter, pulling my pinky finger as a signal of attracting my attention. "Can we hug?" At this point, I start thinking whether someone could be that adorable. Does fairytale exist in reality? Does a person be so nice and gentle at the same time? Is this a dream?
"Sure." I bring you close, slowing embracing you with my arms around your neck, hearing your breathing. It turned heavy, your heartbeats turning fast like never before, I held you tight, my head resting on your shoulder. A sense of nervousness and a thrill of excitement could be felt in the air surrounding us. The lit city underneath, the dusk embracing the dark road, the inky-dusky sky covering the trees, exhibiting an appropriate match of or hug. It feels like the nature accepts us, the air holds us like a caring mother, the warmth reminding us of our existence. The tight embrace lasts for a couple of minutes. I release a bit, our face turning towards each other. I couldn't resist and immediately kiss plant a kiss on your forehead. A kiss representing, care and comfort. A kiss representing how much I want me to be near you, protect you. A kiss implementing my compassion and intimacy. You blink twice looking towards my eyes. The way you look at me, feels like I shall bring the whole world at your feet. The way you hold me, feels like accepting you wholeheartedly, with your goodness and bad. "I missed you." I say. "Me too." I hug him again, this time more vigorously."
"Expecting someone?" A guy approaches me, pointing towards the bench I have been sitting on, bringing me back to present. I look at him. I laugh. "Yes, and seems like he've reached." I smile.
"Maybe I have distracted you from some deep thoughts you were in?"
"Yes, the moment that we shared that evening atop the city, few years back."
